Statements by the Director's:

Writing and co-directing Killing Ariel was a cathartic experience for me.  A few years ago, I suffered an epiphany, the painful truth that I, like many others, had a demon lashing my back to achieve the things I wanted, and that whatever I gained was in equal measure a loss of intimacy with my family.  My son grew to be a man and I hardly knew him.  My beautiful

wife and I had turned grey and all through the years I had been too busy to notice.  Killing Ariel, in symbolic terms, is my personal horror story.  It is a cautionary tale for anyone who might find themselves under harness by some demon driving them to gain money, power, fame, sex, or anything else at the expense of their loved ones.  And demons are hard to kill.  Just when you think you have them locked down, there are out and sucking on you soul again.  If this movie does not scare you, or if you can’t discern the warning within it, then in the most meaningful of senses, you might already be dead and gone.

Discussing the making of this film in its infancy stage became such a “do or die” situation for me.  With my past twenty years of film making (storyboarding) experience under my belt, I had to make a life changing

decision. I had to strongly believe I was prepared to direct my first HD feature or continue to work as a director’s wrist.  Mysteriously the film Killing Ariel had a force behind it all of its own. I remember first reading this script thinking, “How we’re going to pull this off?” But for some strange, very strange reason, this film just fell into place. As if things magically appeared on the set at the correct given time. For as tight as the budget

was on this film and how precise the talent and crew preformed, we shot as if we we’re a finely crafted timepiece.  In all my past film projects, I have never put so much effort into a film and have it turn out so much better

than expected.

Anecdotal Accounts:

“Two directors directing one film?  You crazy?”  That was pretty much the reaction we got from everybody.

But David and I got through production with cool composure, made a good movie, and remain the best of friends.  While our areas of responsibilities overlapped, we each concentrated on our individual

strengths and it paid off.  I concentrated on the actors, and David, behind the camera, gave “Killing Ariel” a terrific visual atmosphere that truly helped

tell the story.  And he got us through the schedule on time and on budget.  As a director, David is part pit

bull and part freight train all rolled into one.  It was a pleasure working with him.
